March 22 Weekend Stars

Here are some standout individual performances at both the high school and college level from over the weekend.

Christopher Ais, Stoughton: In a 21-7 win over Foxboro, Ais rushed for 135 yards and a 44-yard touchdown on 20 carries.


Tristan Benson, Holliston: In Holliston's opening, 37-27 win over Hopkinton, Benson rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, and also two two-point conversions.


Andrew Bossey and Keegan Sullivan, Scituate: In the Sailors' 49-20 win over Hanover, these two juniors had big games. Bossey rushed for 250 yards and five touchdowns on 32 carries. He also made an interception on defense. Sullivan rushed for 80 yards on eight carries and caught four passes for 27 yards. Sullivan had two touchdowns, an interception, and a fumble recovery for 25 yards.


Anthony Comer, Mansfield: In a 20-7 win over Milford, Comer made two interceptions, including a 13-yard pick-six, and rushed for an 18-yard touchdown.


Marcus Crawford and Bryce Gentry Warrick, Springfield Central: In a 55-14 win over Minnechaug, Crawford rushed for 102 yards and four touchdowns on six carries, caught two passes for 39 yards, and had a 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Warrick made five tackles, four tackles for loss, 0.5 sack, two quarterback hurries, and a fumble recovery for 25 yards.


Kyle Darrigo, Tewksbury: In his team's 29-7 win over Chelmsford, Darrigo rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns, and also had 69 yards receiving and a 25-yard touchdown.


Johnny Ferrentino, East Longmeadow: In his team's 21-6 win over Amherst, Ferrentino had a touchdown reception, and also a long, tipped, diving catch. On defense, the defensive back made an interception.


Jack Ford, Lynnfield: In Lynnfield's 13-7 win over Newburyport, Ford caught six passes for 150 yards and both Lynnfield touchdowns, of 52 and 39 yards.


Gordon Gozdeck and Riley O'Connell, Lincoln-Sudbury: Both O'Connell and Gozdeck did all their damage in the first half of a 55-0 win over Newton South. O'Connell, a junior captain at quarterback, completed 9-of-13 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 30-yard touchdown run. Gozdeck, a senior captain at linebacker, had nine tackles and an interception.


Mac Gulla, Franklin: In Franklin's 28-25 win over Taunton, this running back had 185 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries.


Mike Holt, Tantasqua: In his team's 21-7 win over Westboro, Holt caught seven passes for 74 yards and a touchdown.


Angelo LaRose, Worcester South: In a 35-12 win over Auburn, this 5-foot-10, 195-pound sophomore rushed for 371 yards and five touchdowns on 30 carries. He also ran for two two-point conversions and made nine tackles on defense.


Harry Peters, BC High: In the Eagles' 37-35 overtime win over St. John's Prep, Peters was all over the field. The outside linebacker made two sacks, seven solo tackles, 12 total, and blocked a punt.


Malcolm Samuels, Milton: In the Wildcats' 33-0 win over Braintree, Samuels caught touchdown passes of 15 and 54 yards.


Cam Sanchez, Canton: In a 26-6 win over Oliver Ames, Sanchez had a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and also had scoring runs of 80 and 28 yards.
