Oct. 15 MIAA Divisional Top 10s

These are our statewide top 10 rankings for each division. Teams not ranked in our MIAA top 25 will have write-ups.


Division 1 1. Catholic Memorial (6-0) 2. St. John’s Prep (5-1) 3. Central Catholic (4-1) 4. Everett (5-1) 5. BC High (3-2) 6. Brockton (2-3) — This offense is just scratching the surface. 7. Franklin (3-2) — Mansfield is just a very good team this year. 8. Andover (3-3) — Defense stepped up against Methuen. 9. Attleboro (3-2) — Still a team that can make a little noise in the South. 10. Methuen (4-1) — The injury to quarterback Connor Bryant is a major concern. Division 2 1. Mansfield (4-1) 2. Natick (5-0) 3. King Philip (4-1) 4. New Bedford (5-0) 5. Lincoln-Sudbury (4-1) 6. Reading (4-1) 7. Wellesley (4-1) 8. Barnstable (3-2) — Major contrast of styles with Dennis-Yarmouth. 9. North Andover (2-3) — Too much talent here to write off. 10. Marshfield (4-2) — Chris Arouca has done an outstanding coaching job here. Division 3 1. Springfield Central (3-2) 2. St. John's (S) (3-2) 3. Wachusett (5-0) 4. Doherty (5-0) 5. Tewksbury (4-1) 6. Danvers (5-0) 7. Lynn English (3-2) 8. Minnechaug (5-0) — Just a complete team right now. 9. Beverly (3-2) — New Hampshire recruits this state as well as anyone, and they got a great one in Duncan Moreland. 10. Shepherd Hill (4-1) — Earned a bit of revenge on Leominster. Division 4 1. Marblehead (5-0) 2. Melrose (5-0) 3. Revere (5-0) 4. Nashoba (4-1) 5. Milton (5-0) — Steve Dembowski has coached this year's team up extremely well. 6. Tantasqua (4-1) — No one wants to see this team in the playoffs, we promise you. 7. North Reading (5-0) — Yet another North contender. 8. Wayland (4-1) — Only loss by a point to a very solid Concord-Carlisle team. 9. Fitchburg (3-2) — Gave Wachusett its toughest game this year.

10. Plymouth South (4-1) — Quietly making a case in the South. Division 5 1. Holliston (5-0) 2. Canton (5-0) 3. Amherst (5-0) — You want to see the fullback position played the way it's supposed to, flip on JJ Block's film.

4. Swampscott (3-2) — Two razor-thin losses to two of the best teams in D3 North. 5. Dennis-Yarmouth (4-1) — Hard to call this team a sleeper, but a lot of people are sleeping on the Dolphins. 6. Pentucket (5-0) — Switch to the spread has paid dividends. 7. Foxboro (2-3) — Look at the schedule before you complain about a 2-3 team in this spot. 8. Lynnfield (4-1) — Exceptional play for most of the season. 9. Medfield (3-2) — Well-coached program with two losses against terrific Holliston and Ashland teams. 10. West Springfield (3-2) — Does not match up well with everyone, but can sling it against anyone. Division 6 1. Bishop Fenwick (5-0) — BC High an exclusion loss, but Fenwick held its own. 2. Rockland (6-0) — The South will be a total war this year. 3. Stoneham (3-2) — This team can still beat anyone in this division. 4. Ashland (5-0) — Clockers get a chance at the TVL Kings (Holliston) next. 5. Cardinal Spellman (5-0) — Yet another unbeaten South squad. 6. Tyngsboro (5-0) — Maybe a little low here. 7. Millbury (4-1) — Need to see more of this team.

8. Old Rochester (4-1) — Rounding into form. 9. Shawsheen Tech (6-0) — Less-talked about North contender.

10. Littleton (3-2) — Will physically wear you down.

Division 7


1. Leicester (5-0) — No doubting this team's legitimacy.

2. Blackstone Valley RVT (4-1) — No doubt itching to play Leicester again.

3. Abington (3-2) — Green Wave have emerged from a tough early schedule looking strong.

4. Cohasset (4-1) — Any win over Mashpee is a quality one.

5. Mashpee (2-2) — Will still be a factor in the postseason.

6. Assabet Valley (5-0) — We've said it before and will say it again: D7 Central is a loaded field.

7. South Hadley (5-0) — Growing pains from last year have paid off.

8. West Boylston (4-1) — Will be in the thick of it until the end.

9. Wahconah (4-1) — Lost to an underrated Northampton squad.

10. Case (5-0) — Yet another South contender.


Division 8


1. West Bridgewater (5-0) — Justin Kogler's record as a coach speaks for itself.

2. St. Bernard's (3-2) — Getting better every week like the well-coached program it is.

3. Hoosac Valley (6-0) — Continues to grind opponents into dust.

4. Lynn Tech (4-1) — Love this team's potential.

5. Old Colony (5-0) — Main contender to West Bridgewater right now.

6. Blue Hills (4-1) — Will be heard from in the South.

7. Lunenburg (4-1) — Some solid wins on the resume.

8. Narragansett (2-3) — Again, check the schedule before you knock the record.

9. Monty Tech (3-2) — Only losses to two D7 Central powers.

10. Tech Boston (4-2) — Big win over Boston English/New Mission gets this team here.
