Week 1 MIAA top 25

1. Everett (1-0) — Crimson Tide have the look of a team that knows just how much potential it has.

2. Catholic Memorial (1-0) — This offense can just hurt you in so many ways.

3. Lincoln-Sudbury (1-0) — The Dragons have one of the more suffocating defenses in the state.

4. Duxbury (1-0) — Quarterback John Roberts did a little bit of everything against Bridgewater-Raynham.

5. Xaverian (0-1) — No need to drop the Hawks too far after losing to a team like Everett.

6. St. John's Prep (1-0) — If the Prep beats Central Catholic the way it took care of Haverhill, then look out.

7. Mansfield (1-0) — This team passed its first of two massive nonleague tests.

8. North Andover (1-0) — Gabe DeSouza made his case for first-team all-state wide receiver Friday night.

9. North Attleboro (1-0) — The streak-busters take on an improved Bishop Feehan team Friday night.

10. Central Catholic (1-0) — The Prep presents a different animal than Dartmouth this week.

11. Doherty (1-0) — Big win over an always-dangerous Wachusett team.

12. Needham (1-0) — This offense is very well-rounded.

13. Brockton (1-0) — This is a team we severely underestimated in the preseason.

14. King Philip (0-1) — We still think the Warriors will be fine after suffering their first loss in a long time.

15. Shrewsbury (1-0) — Interesting game with Grafton coming up, but hard to pick against the Colonials there.

16. St. John's (Shrewsbury) (0-1) — Showed heart in battling CM to the very end Saturday night.

17. Tewksbury (1-0) — Game with Methuen Friday night should be more interesting than previously thought.

18. BC High (0-1) — Ran into a tough Mansfield team, but has a shot to even its record against Marshfield this week.

19. Barnstable (1-0) — One of the more impressive wins of the week to take down Dennis-Yarmouth.

20. Dracut (1-0) — Quarterback Devin Lambert and skill players Allyn French and Cam McCullough had big nights against Westford Academy.

21. Lynn English (1-0) — Beating Beverly like that is a better win than people realize.

22. Lynn Classical (1-0) — Cruised in the opener, and there might be a lot of games like that this season.

23. Hingham (1-0) — Got a little revenge on Foxboro.

24. Scituate (1-0) — Massive tilt with Duxbury this week.

25. Mashpee (1-0) — Falcons will continue to rack up the miles with a trip to South Hadley this week.
